Again, this isn't a hard challenge. But it is RNG dependent. You might get all the genres you like, you might get none. Being able to re-roll 1 tile so you can clear the board without playing something you don't want to would be a nice addition.
Playing something you don't want to is kinda the goal of these community events though. Was the same for crab and battleship. To some extent alphabet and hangman too, even though you could cheese those. I'd agree one random reroll wouldn't be too much but at the end of the day, if you only play 2-3 genres this event wasn't for you to begin with.
Just to chime in on this, if someone is going out of their way to cheese these events, since they're single player, its shouldn't particularly matter to other players (unless you're trying to top the leaderboards, but in that case, you're probably going to cheese as well), so its always better to have the opt-out options on games, etc to assist those of us who can't knock out these challenges in less than a day.
And via this way, we can cater to the widest player base.
On the other hand, the only time I do get a little cheese on my onions is when it has head-to-head mechanics built in. For example, I did head-to-head Battleship. Won my first round. Then in my second round, I faced off with someone with a board absolutely filled with those "Puzzle by Nikoli W" achievements. Automatic loss of course.
Therein, if I was running things, I would keep most contests using loose rules (i.e., with rerolls, etc) but tighten rules on head-to-head battle events.
